Decisions were made or approvals were granted without consulting the communities.Legal and procedural terms that used to hold power, such as “consent” and “prior consultation”, have been replaced with more ambiguous, non-binding terms such as “dialogue” and “engagement”.The project is justified on the basis of removing or devaluing existing communities and biodiversity.The project is classified as too urgent to allow for consultation, precaution or impact assessment due to the climate crisis.You could lose your home or your livelihood, or be exposed to pollution or other forms of harm, while corporations profit.You or your opponents have been arrested, taken to court or threatened with legal action.People who have defended the land or environment have been killed, disappeared or been threatened.
